Securall offers Type 2, Type 3 & Type 4 Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives (AA&E) storage magazines for secure & compliant storage of explosives and ammunition. Explosive materials and ammunition must be stored in appropriate magazines. Explosives Storage Magazines are designed to store low explosive and/or high explosive materials. Type 2 magazines - Mobile and portable indoor and outdoor magazines for the storage of high explosives, subject to the limitations prescribed by §§§ 555.206, 555.208(b), and 555.213. Other classes of explosive materials may also be stored in type 2 magazines. Outdoor magazines are to be bullet-resistant, fire-resistant, weather-resistant, theft-resistant, and ventilated. They are to be supported to prevent direct contact with the ground and, if less than one cubic yard in size, must be securely fastened to a fixed object. The exterior and doors are to be constructed of not less than 1⁄4" steel and lined with at least two inches of hardwood. Magazines with top openings will have lids with water-resistant seals or which overlap the sides by at least one inch when in a closed position.

Type 3 magazines - Portable outdoor magazines for the temporary storage of high explosives while attended (for example, a “day-box”), subject to the limitations prescribed by §§ 555.206 and 555.213. Other classes of explosives materials may also be stored in type 3 magazines.

Type 4 magazines. Magazines for the storage of low explosives, subject to the limitations prescribed by §§§ 555.206(b), 555.210(b), and 555.213. Blasting agents may be stored in type 4 magazines, subject to the limitations prescribed by §§§ 555.206(c), 555.211(b), and 555.213. Detonators that will not mass detonate may also be stored in type 4 magazines, subject to the limitations prescribed by §§§ 555.206(a), 555.210(b), and 555.213.

CFR 27 Storage - The Federal explosives regulations at 27 CFR, Part 555, Subpart K, provide specific construction requirements for explosives magazines.

  • Explosive materials must be stored in appropriate magazines.
  • Magazines must meet all construction and housekeeping requirements of 27 CFR 555, Subpart K.
  • Magazines must meet Table of Distance requirements.
  • Permanent outdoor magazines must have a substantial foundation or be metal skirted to prevent access underneath the magazine.
  • Explosive materials may not be left unattended in Type-3 magazines, including "day boxes," and must be removed to type 1 or 2 magazines for unattended storage.
  • Storage regulations DO NOT apply to binary explosives until mixed.
  • ATF Storage for High Explosives & Blasting Agents - High explosives, upon initiation, function by detonation, a rapid decomposition (explosion) of the material caused by a shock wave moving through the product at a rate faster than the speed of sound. High explosives, such as blasting caps, detonating cord, dynamite, shaped charges, boosters, etc., must be stored in: Type-1 permanent magazines; Type-2 mobile and portable indoor/outdoor magazines; or Type-3 magazines for attended storage; Blasting Agents stored with high explosives must be stored in a Type-1 or -2 magazine.

    Securall Products’ Storage Magazines provide safe and compliant storage options for both High and Low Explosives. We manufacture Type 2, Type 3 and Type 4 Magazines for indoor or outdoor uses. Our Type 2 Outdoor Magazines’ Bullet-Resistant design meets or exceeds the ATF specs at CFR 555.11 (pg. 75 ATF Ruling 76-18 (b)).

    All Securall Magazines are designed to be Weather, Fire and Theft Resistant. Additionally, Securall is the only Magazine Manufacturer currently offering an optional upgrade of 2 hour Fire-Rated Walls. Also, our proprietary wall design has been tested and rated to withstand F-5 Tornado winds and associated impacts (Texas Tech University Wind Science and Engineering Research Center).
